The Pokémon series has always been highly susceptible to leaks. With every new game or demo released, the series’ eager fans analyze every part of the game’s data in order to find new information about future content or Pokémon. The same has been the case with Pokémon Go, which has had upcoming updates leaked multiple times. That being said, the game’s latest leak may have just revealed a brand new Pokémon.

Twitter user @Chrales noticed the new Pokémon through a leak in Pokémon Go’s network traffic. The new creature designs, one regular and one shiny, are labeled as Kecleon in-game, but looking at their Unity files shows that they are tagged as “Pokémon 891”.

While it is entirely possible that these are placeholder designs, it is quite likely that this mysterious Pokémon is the one teased earlier in the year. Around the time Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! were announced, Game Freak revealed that connecting those Nintendo Switch games with Pokémon Go would grant players a brand new Pokémon. That’s why it makes sense for it to show up in Pokémon Go’s data first.

I also find it funny that the developers at Niantic tried to disguise these new creatures as Kecleon, a Pokémon known for being able to change colors and camouflage itself to stay hidden. That being said, I am also excited by the fact that this Pokémon could be giving us our first look at something Generation 8-related before those titles release in 2019.

DualShockers will be sure to let you know when Pokémon #891 is officially revealed. Pokémon Go is currently available on iOS and Android, with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! and Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! releasing exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 16.
